ABOUT MY APPROACH
Welcome to my small practice. I am a Clinical Health Psychologist specialized in Behavioral Medicine. My work is centered on the profound intersection of physical health and psychological well-being. I founded this practice to provide a dedicated space for individuals seeking care for insomnia, chronic pain, and the emotional complexities—such as depression and anxiety—that often accompany them.
My work is grounded in specialized training, including a joint doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh that founds my understanding of the bidirectional influence between brain and body, an internship and fellowship within the Brown University Clinical Consortium focused on behavioral medicine interventions, and an academic background in sleep research. This background allows me to refine a mind-body framework for my clients that is both supportive and highly skills-based.
The Therapeutic Partnership
In our work together, we go beyond symptom management. We will explore your unique experience with a focus on behavioral change, the reprocessing of emotions and physical sensations, and shifting your relationship with unconstructive thoughts- all while prioritizing the profound connection between mind and body. Together, we identify specific targets for change, dismantle patterns that are no longer serving you, and build a life guided by your values rather than the constraints of illness. My goal isn't to keep you in therapy indefinitely; it is to 'graduate' you with the tools to manage your health with independence.
An Active, Evidence-Based Approach
My approach is active, present-focused, and deeply collaborative. I’m a big believer in evidence-based protocols, but I also know that clinical data is useless if it doesn't come with a dose of humor and a grounded, down-to-earth partnership. My approach is most effective for individuals who are ready to be engaged during our sessions and committed to applying our work to their lives outside of the office.
Whether we are working in a short-term, targeted sprint to resolve a specific sleep issue or engaging in longer-term support to navigate the complexities of chronic illness, our goal remains the same: moving you from being in the passenger seat to meaningful re-engagement with your body and your life.
Clinical Themes
Our work will focus on making actionable change — in habits, mindset, and in your relationship with your emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations. We make intentional strides to sit with discomfort and form curiosity rather than avoidance. We focus on shifting away from "shoulds" and instead engage deeply with what truly matters to you.
Tailoring Care
My clinical background spans a diverse range of clinical settings, including outpatient psychiatry, primary care, and specialized clinics such as spine and sleep centers. I take pride in translating these experiences into the care I now provide individuals in the community, tailored and attuned to your specific needs.
Ultimately, my goal is to provide you with the skillset and the inspiration to build a life you find worth living.
More About Me
In this season of my life, I've become a parent while also witnessing my own parents age, and this has evolved the way I view myself and my life. I've come to say that I am now a part time psychologist (regardless of hours I work) and a full time mom and daughter. My husband and I have three young children, all under the age of 5, as well as three rescue dogs and a cat. I feel forever thankful that between my practice and my family, I have no dull moments in life. I was born and raised in the Boston suburbs, and was raised by my immigrant Chinese Burmese parents and large extended family. When I get a moment to myself, I enjoy the simple things in life such as cooking, going on a quiet walk or hike, admiring the water, and having a good cup of coffee.
